Rosie O’Donnell Announces Return to Daytime

If you’re one of those Oprah-philes who’s been panicking since the Queen of Daytime announced she’s hanging up her crown in 2011, you may find comfort in knowing her void might be quickly filled.

Now, if you’re one of those people who was on Team Elizabeth in her smackdown with Rosie O’Donnell on The View, you might be sad to hear that Oprah’s slot is most likely going to be filled by Rosie.

The former Queen of Nice is reteaming with Dick Robertson and Scott Carlin. They helped get the original Rosie O’Donnell Show off the ground and Robertson produced it for the six-year run. The show will be different from her old series, focusing on one topic or guest for a complete hour.

The real question is, which Rosie will we get? We love the Rosie that’s fun loving and likes to sing show tunes and talk about crafting. But we’re, frankly, a little leary of the one that ambushes guests like Tom Selleck and loses her temper at her co-hosts (even if we agree with her ultimate position).

According to OMG! it looks like we should expect the mischevious Rosie who allegedly had a run in with her former boss on The View Barbara Walters this weekend. Rosie  explained the encounter to Access Hollywood, "'What time are you gonna be on?' Rosie claimed Barbara asked. 'I [know] that The View wants to be on in the Oprah spot, so just for sh**s and giggles, I said, 'Oh yeah, the Oprah spot.'... to which Barbara's face goes slack-ish.’"

So, we’re happy to hear that Rosie will return to daytime and we’re putting it out to the Universe that the time off and the new girlfriend have helped put her in a really good mood.

In the meantime, we’ll keep track of her impending plans at rosie.com and pray for the best.
