The Cast of Glee on Their First TV Memories

We can’t say that we recall the first time we saw television – it was always on in our house, all day, all night. What we can remember, explicitly, was the first time we realized how much TV mattered to us.

That fateful night was Saturday, March 19, 1977 and the series finale of The Mary Tyler Moore Show was about to air. And for some inexplicable reason, our sister had decided to go to her friend's house. To top it off, the grown-ups all decided to chit chat when we went to pick her up. Didn’t they understand that we could not miss what would clearly be one of the most momentous events in pre-videotape, way-pre-TiVo history. If we missed it, we missed it. Those few minutes in the McPhee household seemed like an eternity.

Luckily we made it home with time to spare and saw the WJM gang huddled together, scuffling over toward the tissue box.

At a recent event for the Archive of American Television, we asked the cast of Glee what their first TV memories were. Here’s what they had to say.
