Bob Newhart appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson 87 times, often a guest and sometimes as a fill-in host.
The two comedians became fast friends in the early days and stayed close through their careers. They even ended up being neighbors. Rumor has it that they would often end their evenings with jazz sessions at Bob's house.
