Modern Family garnered 14 Emmy nominations this season, including one for almost every adult cast member. Ed O'Neill reportedly insisted on being placed in the Supporting Actor category with his co-stars, perhaps missing out on a Leading Actor nod since the supporting slots were filled by Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Ty Burrell. Both Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen were nominated in the Supporting Actress category.
In a recent Movieline interview, Bowen said she doesn't expect to take home the statue over Vergara saying, “Sofia will win. I don’t think, I know.”
Julie may just be right if the latest Modern Family "For Your Consideration" ad in Variety has as much influence on voters as the marketing department hopes it will.
The ad simply read, "If Modern Family wins the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy, Sofia Vergara will run naked down Sunset Blvd." That's sure to get some votes, unless, of course, Academy members saw the small print, which stated, "Cast member may change without notice." Personally we think it would be fun to watch a Hollywood waxed Eric Stonestreet, with a Hollywood wax, fill in for her.
