Pop Culture Passionistas/Archive of American Television
Dear Diary,
We know it’s been a long time since
we’ve written, but our good friend Karen suggested it was time to start sharing
our hopes and dreams with you. After all, each day we experience new and,
sometimes bizarre, brushes with pop culture greatness.
Last Thursday was a dreamy day for
the Passionistas. We started our morning talking to two teen idols, Tiffany and
Deborah Gibson. The mall-tour divas were promoting their Syfy movie Megapython
vs. Gatoroid. Not Gator-AID… Gator-OID.
Cut
to a few hours later as we sat in the lobby of the glorious Beverly Hills Hotel,
when we overhead Berry Gordy Jr.'s son name dropping about working with Marvin
Gaye's son. Talk about a music merger.
Later
that night we could barely contain ourselves while covering the red carpet for
the Archive of American Television at the TV Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Some of our favorite childhood stars were there – Rose Marie from The Dick Van
Dyke Show, Valerie Harper and Cloris Leachman from The Mary Tyler Moore Show
and Marsha Strassman from Welcome, Back Kotter.
But the highlight had to be talking to Mr. Carl Reiner, the creator of The Dick Van Dyke Show, chatting about the series’ classic theme song. Too cool.
Talking to Alan Brady, Rhoda, Phyllis and Mrs. Koh-ter practically transported us back to our childhood living room, sitting inches away from the TV, eating bowl after bowl of cocoa puffs, while wearing cozy feetie pajamas.
That’s it for now diary. We’ll be
back soon with another brush with pop culture greatness.
XO
