From now through August 8, you can upload a photo or video of your beat up, run down, out dated or otherwise poor excuse for a kitchen to the DIY Network website. Prove to the judges why your kitchen deserves a full-on makeover and you might be named the lucky winner.
The person selected for having the “Worst Kitchen in America” will get the grand prize — a complete kitchen transformation and a trip to the Big Apple to attend the New York City Wine & Food Festival. The winner will even get a meet and greet with Food Network host Anne Burrell.
DIY Network host Matt Blashaw commented, “DIY Network and Food Network Magazine fully appreciate the need to update your kitchen, especially one that is outdated, improperly equipped, rundown or odd-looking." Food Network Magazine editor in chief Maile added, "This contest is a chance for home cooks to get the kitchen of their dreams.”
And the winner also gets their 15 minutes of fame because the kitchen transformation will be filmed for a one-hour DYI special hosted by licensed contractor Matt Blashaw called, appropriately enough, Worst Kitchen in America. The show will premiere in January of 2012, which means your makeover will have to be complete in three months. That really is a dream come true.
