What You Don't Know About 'The Walking Dead's' Chandler Riggs

Courtesy of AMC

Last night the much anticipated spin-off Fear the Walking Dead premiered and the series young male star, Nick Clark, is a drug-addled, paranoid, albeit entertaining mess. A far cry from the mother show's Carl Grimes, who has always shown grace under pressure and has grown to be quiet the warrior on the zomified FX series. Sixteen-year-old Chandler Riggs will no doubt continue to take down Walkers like his older compatriots when The Walking Dead returns on October 15 on AMC. Here are a few things you may not know about the actor.

1. He Started Acting at Age 4

As a young four-year-old boy in Atlanta, Riggs started doing community theater. Soon after he landed an agent and acted in a few films before being cast as Carl on The Walking Dead.

2. He Played a Zombie in His First Movie

Ironically before playing a killer of the walking dead, Riggs was part of the zombie ensemble in a 2006 indie film called Jesus H. Zombie. But it was his next movie, Get Low starring Robert Duvall that really got the young actor noticed.

Fun Facts About St. Elsewhere

Amy Shumer fans may be too young to recognize the 99-year-old man in her hit comedy Trainwreck. But devotees of the classic TV series St. Elsewhere know that the centenarian is none other than Norman Lloyd, who played Dr. Daniel Auschlander —  Chief of Services at St. Eligius. Over three decades after the show first aired, we look back at a time when the medical drama was a critical darling and Lloyd was a spry man in his mid 60s,

St. Elsewhere premiered and many dubbed it Hill Street Blues in a hospital. But creators Joshua Band and Brad Falsey went on to prove to be much more than Steven Bochco wannabes. The series lasted for six seasons from 1981 through 1988 and earned numerous awards for the cast and crew. The show launched pop culture games in which people tried to guess the film and television references often found within episodes and had a series finale that has gone down in TV history.

Courtesy of Adrian Wilson

Ask any artist and they will tell you that the road to success is often fraught with pitfalls and unexpected twists and turns. Such has been the case for Adrian Wilson, the Bronx-born singer and actor who overcame great obstacles to become the success he is today.

Raised by his single mother, Wilson was the youngest of four. It was a very simple beginning, not many opportunities for education,” he recalls. “But the thing that was very clear was that I loved school, I loved reading and I loved words. I just wanted to make something of myself despite the odds that were stacked against me.”

When he was six years old, Wilson knew that he wanted to perform. Inspired by the variety shows that he saw on television, he remembered, “I saw a lot of flash and I thought, ‘That is it. I have to do that.’” And that is exactly what he did.

In church, Wilson gravitated toward the music. At school, he joined the glee club. At an equity theater company, Wilson spent the summer as a 13-year-old production assistant and soon got the acting bug, as well.
