Dr. Phil's Upper Lip Exposed

A fashion event rocked Hollywood this week. It was not a New York Fashion Week Runway show, or a Sex and the City reunion, or the unveiling of a design legend's new clothing line, or even a Project Runway finale. In a brazen act of public facial hair removal, Dr. Phil McGraw shaved off his mustache... live... on the Oprah Winfrey Show. It was the first time the TV psychologist had a clean upper lip in over four decades. His wife (who had not seen him clean shaven since they started dating 38 years ago) was gracious enough to let Oprah have the first non-hairy kiss.

When asked why he did it, he told Oprah, "I tell people you've got to be willing to change something!" Looks like Phil was juts taking his own advice. He continued, "For the first time in over 40 years - and I have two kids and they've never seen me without a mustache - I am going to take off my mustache."

Also on hand for the big event was another Oprah protégé, Dr. Mehmet Oz, who helped do the shaving. When the facial hair removal was complete, Dr. Phil quipped that is was "awfully drafty."
